Sport & Play supplies cricket nets and screens at the Kia Oval
Sport & Play has supplied and installed new indoor cricket nets and side screens at The Kia Oval, home of the Surrey County Cricket Club and traditional host of the final test match of each summer season.
Sport & Play was asked to remove the old cricket nets, including the tracking, and install a completely new system. In addition, new side screens were installed manufactured in one-way mesh so that the audience could see the play but the batsmen would not be distracted by their spectators.
The Oval, referred to as the Kia Oval due to a commercial sponsorship deal, is an international cricket ground in Kennington, in the London Borough of Lambeth. In the past, it was also sometimes called the Kennington Oval and has also been officially named as the ‘Fosters Oval’, ‘AMP Oval’, ‘Brit Insurance Oval’, due to previous sponsorship agreements. In 1868, 20,000 spectators gathered at the Oval for the first game of the 1868 Aboriginal cricket tour of England, the first tour of England by any foreign side. The Oval was also the first ground in the United Kingdom to host Test cricket.
Sport & Play acts as a one-stop shop for the supply, installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of all indoor and outdoor sports and leisure equipment. The company can supply a wide range of banners in PVC or mesh for use as screens or, overprinted, as advertising signage. Sport & Play also has wide ranging expertise in the installation of high quality outdoor equipment, including cricket nets, for both team sports and athletics, including match-play, competition and training equipment.
