LOLER Testing & Certification

Providing a swimming pool hoist for less able customers is a great facility and encourages them to use one of the best forms of exercise. However, it must be maintained and kept in prime condition.

The LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) standard requires that lifting equipment should be the subject of on-going thorough servicing, examination and certification by a LOLER qualified engineer. Sport & Play can ensure that you continue to comply.

It is recommended that the hoists are tested every 6 months. Therefore, we offer an annual testing and service agreement which includes two visits per year, scheduled 6 months apart as follows:

 

 

 

 

 

 

All types of pool hoist including Arjo Otter and Oxford Dipper, slings and all other accessories can be tested. Certificates are provided and minor repairs can be completed after testing and on-site. Indeed, we hold a comprehensive stock of spare parts offering quick repairs to most types of lifting equipment.

The LOLER regulations have been prepared by the Health & Safety Executive for the Health & Safety Commission. They have been law under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and build on the requirements to provide equipment under PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) 1998.

Our assessment of your lift will ensure that it is strong enough and stable enough for its intended use, that it is marked with its maximum load, a requirement of the British & European Hoist Standard BS EN 10535 and that it will minimise any risk to operators and users.

As an employer, you have responsibility for the health & safety plus condition of the equipment that your staff use. Meanwhile, employees have the responsibility to use equipment safely and to report anything that they perceive to be a risk. If they do, of course, then Sport & Play can respond and rectify any problems.
